There is a recall for this problem on the Cobalt, where the car just turns off on the road unexpectedly. This is so dangerous that we can't drive the vehicle anymore. I called GM and they didn't seem interested in helping. I took it to a Chevy dealer in the area and they said the recall isn't for this problem. It only covers the ignition key. I know that it's a defect and not due to the age. WE bought the car new, and the dealer can't find any problem. Yet it keeps costing me money to diagnose each time. Can anyone help me fight GM on this issue before someone gets hurt on the road?

I wanted a new car for my 18th birthday but I wasn't sure of what kind of car i actually wanted. Its not like I had a lot of options but I really did want a Nissan Maxima but it was out of my budget, plus my dad was the one that was the one with the money so it was up to him. We ended up going to a Dealer and he bought me a 05 Impala for 5,000 cash looked great and nice and it worked fine for about 2 weeks. after that it started to make weird noises and the battery would come up on the little screen. So one day i took it to work and on the middle of the highway It completely stopped!! First it was running fine then the radio started to become static and the light would turn on and off as well as the gauges and they would get bright and dim like if it was possessed? After that it wouldn't start at all. the battery was completely dead. We had to call a tow trucker to take it back home. He charged us 100 dollars. After that we bought a new battery and a new alternator. That was a lot of money.. and 2 days later it started to do the same thing again.. it was a pain in the ass. It died on me again one afternoon after putting gas at a gasoline station I had to call the tow trucker again. So far i have not messed with it. I have no idea what could make it work again.. i am hoping it is the Voltage regulator like the guy from AUTOZONE told me..

Third occurrence in past two months, except this time it was a massive shutdown of the entire electrical system including the engine dying while I was trying to accelerate to pass when the following occurred in order within a few seconds while driving a steady ~35 miles an hour and no bumps in the road: a). brake light came on b). low fuel light came on and fuel gauge went from reading a half full tank to empty c) ABS light came on d) Temperature gauge went to cold position e) engine shut completely off

I then coasted to a parking lot and parked. After 30 minutes of trying to start the car I gave up and caught a ride back home. The next day I went to take the car to the dealer and the car started with no problems. The dealer reviewed what had occurred over the vehicles history and decided that the �Body Control Module� was defective and replaced this, then called me and insured me that the problem was fixed � it wasn�t see fourth occurance
