i am the original owner of the 2004 Chevy impala for the yr it hardly has any miles and i have always kept it maintained. everytime i turn around something else seems to be going wrong with it. now the heating system is not working properly.
i have a 2004 impala bought 2 years ago and in this new year thing have been going wrong 1st the head lights will just go out while driving.2nd after a major ice storm heater and ac went out you can hear it trying to come on but it wont. 3rd now my car will shut off going at slow speeds does anyone have the same problems or have advice im a mother of three sont have a lot of money to waste
ok I looked the problem up and found out there are a lot of impala owners with the same exact problem. There is a weather strip on the passenger side where the wiper blade is that is not sealed and water leaks on floorboard. This has caused my heater to stop working.
This car is a piece of crap! Not only does the heater not work but the car stalls when there is about 2 inches or so of snow so it's not practical to drive in the winter, especially when you commute 25 miles/day. The battery also lasts only three years; we replaced it in July 2007 only two months after we bought it and just today had to buy a new one. The guy at the NAPA store told us that the 2004/2007 Impalas are battery drains.

The heater started blowing out cold air instead of warm. Had to take in for repair - Was between $200 and $300 to get fixed. Just one of many problems with this piece of junk. I've been a loyal Chrevrolet buyer but if I ever think of buying one again I hope someone put me in an insane asylum!
Bought the car used in May 2007 and when the cold weather hit went to turn on the heater and all we got was cold air. The blower worked fine, but the air was lukewarm and the heater does not work. However, we noticed that after driving it the 25 miles into town, running child to daycare and driving to work and then letting it sit for about 4 hours, the heater would work when I would drive the car at lunch and home at night. But will not work in the mornings. This has happened every single winter since we've had this car (coming up on three winters). We are due with baby in early December, so am diligently looking for another car. Preferrably with a working heater.
Update from Sep 22, 2010: Traded the damn thing in yesterday. They told us when they took it for a test drive that the air unit wasn't working at all; we figured it was on it's way out, but they still paid it off for us and now we have something better than that piece of crap!
I love my 2004 Impala, but yesterday morning I started to work and the heat would not get warm. The fan was blowing out good just cold air. Don't get me wrong I love cold air but its getting colder in SC.
