The contact owns a 2002 Chevrolet Impala. While driving approximately 55 mph, the steering wheel became difficult to turn without warning. The failure occurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where it was diagnosed that the rack and pinion needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 200,164.
The contact owns a 2002 Chevrolet Impala. Three days after the vehicle was purchased, the contact felt a hard vibration in the axle and also heard a cracking noise on the driver side of the vehicle. The failure occurred while driving 40 mph. The oil light illuminated and the oil was changed at 104,000 miles. Before the oil change, the mechanic stated that the oil had never been changed and that a new rack and pinion and serpentine belt were needed. The contact also experienced electrical failure that caused the vehicle to shut off completely. The dealer would not give her a carfax report after one was requested. The powertrain was unknown. The failure mileage was 100,979 and current mileage was 105,840.
