The security light is on and it won't go off. I do believe we should file a lawsuit and I am very serious about this. There seems to be no solution to this with out spending lots of money.

Please contact me if you are serious about this. I believe we have a very solid chance on this and have talked to several lawyers. GM should be responsible for this problem, since there is no recall on this.

I've owned this car a couple months and I first had trouble with the check engine light and now the security light stays on while driving.I agree with the others that GM knows about these issues with the chevy impala and they should have a recall on this vehicle.

I'm sure glad I'm not the only one having a "security light on" problem and the car not starting intermittently. We've been fighting this problem for the past year+. There's nothing worse then being stuck in a parking lot after dark with a car that doesn't start, and having to wait 10 or 15 minutes before it'll start.. Why in the heck doesn't GM do something about it? I'd be more then happy to add my name to a class action.

IMPALA,2002, 60,000 MILES,

Sensors, security lights, car won t start, fuses door lock, int. lights stay on.

#1Car won't start. Door lock fuse was replaced. Car worked for a couple of days then Security light stayed on while driving. After turning car off it would not start again. Interior lights would not go off (pulled out fuse for interior lights before). Road service jump started car. Replaced door lock fuse (burned out) and put back same interior light fuse a couple days later. Door lock fuse went out, security light stayed on then after turning car off it would not restart. This time jump start didnt work and car was towed home. Had to remove interior light fuse because lights would not go off. I called GM due to all of the complaints on internet. Any idea what to do? Thank you!

#2 Previous to this took car a dealership re: ABS, low brake fluid, and other sensor lights were on. Diagnostic showed low washer, one tire needed air (which I already mentioned), and they overfilled brake fluid. It was the sensors and brakes that were suppose to be diagnosed. I asked What about my brakes that is what it went in for. I was told not to pay attention to the Manual (this Identified possible brake problem) and they reprogrammed it and everything was fine. Turned out, I did need brakes which became clear when grinding began and these sensors went off. Could problems above #1 have been caused by their diagnostics process? Diagnosis was for sensors and brakes not to fill washer fluid and air in tire which I already said was low.

The problem of security light and no start first happened 1 year ago. Took it to the dealer and they reprogrammed the BCM and it cost about 50 bucks. The reprogramming helped the start problem for about half year and it then start to happen again (but very intermittent). I Had to wait in the car for more than 15 mins and then restart. Searched the web and found no root cause. GM should really take it seriously and issue a recall on this. No wonder it is losing market to Japanese cars!!

Impala V6

  • CVT transmission
  • 61,000 miles

This problem started with the doors not automatically locking when car was put in drive. The doors did not unlock when put into park.

Trunk button would not unlock trunk from inside while car running in park as before. It only opened after car was turned off. A/C works when it feels like it. Dome light on passenger side dosen't always come on when that door is opened.

Security light comes on, then battery light comes on, then service vehicle soon light comes on. The passenger air bag warning light flashes upon start up, then goes out. If car started with radio on, it works for 10 seconds then turns off and shows locked. After 30-45 sec. that light goes out but the radio remains off. I can then turn it on manually. (stays on ) Now the car overheats once in a while, I suspect the electric fan is also working on and off when it feels like it. Unfortunatly I must now try to have have this repaired after reading about the no start problem others are experiencing. Not looking forward to this at all. If anyone has advice on this please please please tell me.

I have the same problem, just started, with the "SECURITY" light coming on. I noticed when it comes on the headlights will ( looks like) go to 'brighter' then change back to their usual brightness. I had the fuses checked and they are all fine. My mechanic ( falimy friend) is checking for the possible problem.

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only person having this kind of problem. My "SECURITY" light doesn't always come on. It can come on when I leave work to the bank or store and when I start up again it may not come on at all. GO FIGURE !

the dealer keeps telling me that it could take days to find the short in the electrical system at 77.00 dollars an hour .. this could be very costly. they claim that they have already spent 4 hours on it but I feel I'm being shafted
