The contact owns a 2001 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated that the turn signal works periodically. The turn signal module was replaced, but still works intermittently. The current mileage was 137,000 and failure mileage was 120,000. Updated 07/29/08 updated 07/29/08
This car has been a electrical/mechanical nightmare and I'm finding many, many, reports on the internet of owners having the same problem(s). 1) intake manifold gasket leaks causing catalytic converter and egr valve to clog. The result of this is exhaust gases can't escape, backing up and burning/blowing a hole in the intake manifold itself. All above items had to be replaced at a very substantial cost. 2) blinkers intermittently work. Mostly they don't work. This is caused by a defective (flasher) module located in the dash behind the 'flasher" button. This ia very, very common. 3) A/C heater blower fan stops working on speeds 1,2 then 3 resulting. This is due to resistors burning up on a module mounted behind the dash and in front of the blower motor. My question here is, at what point does someone hold the manufacturer responsible for these obvious factory defects. All you have to do is google any of the above complaints and see how many people are affected. Help !!!

I have a couple of problem with the 2001 Chevrolet Impala that I recently purchased used. As far as I know using carfax to check there have been no accidents or anything that would logically cause the problems. Several mechanics have told me they couldn't find any obvious previous damage. When driving the turn signals will work completely at random for a short amount of time. I did not get a traffic ticket or had an accident. I had no idea what fixed this problem. Also, the car will not start on occasion. Normally, if I waited 10 - 60 minutes and tried it again it will eventually start. Vehicle left me stranded for an unknown amount of time. I was told by my mechanic that it will cost about $400 to fix this problem, and that only a Chevrolet dealer could do it.
- the contact owns a 2001 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated that he had a reference number from filing a complaint with the Chevrolet motor division 71-489286337. The turn signal stopped working without any reason. Just as the contact was changing lanes the turn signal stopped working. A service technician at a Chevrolet dealership told the contact that he should turn the hazard signal on and off and that the turn signal should work, and it did. The contact stated that the turn signal failed intermittently.this would indicate that the hazard switch failed. The current and failure mileage were both 70000. Updated 04/05/07.
: the contact stated while driving 50 mph on the highway, the vehicle's right turn signal did not illuminate when activated. Both turn signals do not function at times. The signal malfunctions intermittently. There was another vehicle made by the same manufacturer who had a recall for the same problem. The manufacturer was alerted but has not respond to the contact's concerns.
My turn signals do not run properly. They work and sometimes they don't. the hazards work then they don't'. at times when you move the turn signals back and forth or you turn the hazards on and off, it might make the turn signals work ok, I haven't had any turn signals that work correctly for the past two years.
The contact stated when the turn signals are in use they will only flash once or twice before the light stays on. The contact must push in the hazard light switch to get the turn signals to flash on and off correctly. The vehicle has not been taken to the dealership for inspection. Dealer replaced switch hazard warning switch.
I own a 2001 Chevy Impala. I have had problems with the turn signals and hazard lights working. They work when they feel like it. I am a single mom and can't afford to repair this problem. Please help. I have a co worker who has the same car and is having the same problem.
Turn signal failure. This has been happening for several months once in a while. Lately it is happening more often. If I turn off car and restart the turn signals work again for a while. Tonight while driving one hour home, I had to turn my car off and restart it 4 times so the turn signals would work again. I believe that this is a defect - my car only has 39,400 miles on it.
Problems with the wiring system on the 2001 Chevrolet Impala after the vehicle was impounded. The temperature gauge, gas mileage and the turn signals were inoperative and the radiator hose had burned against the battery. The consumer found that the wiring system was changed. The consumer also found missing components such as a fuse and a huge hollow area due to the missing fans.
Have a Chevrolet Impala with a intake gasket leak. It is so bad it makes my young children physically sick. The turn signals have decided to only work once in a while and the locks on the doors (ours is a 4 door) are sticking - trapping us inside or keeping us locked out. Our trunk wont open at all!
The turn signals on my 2001 Chevy Impala have a tendency to stop working randomly. In traffic this is very dangerous. This has been checked out and no problem could be found because the turn signal was working at the time.
