The turn signal on my 2001 Chevy Impala intermittently does not work. This is a very serious problem, can cause accidents when driving. This problem is the same as the recall on the Chevy Malibu listed below, recall id # 03V327000 - exterior lighting:hazard flashing warning lights:switch. Please add this recall to the Chevy Impala before many serious accidents occur.
1. crank sensot failed and ran hazard lights on side of innerstate for 3 hours while GM roadside assistance sent tow service. 2. turn signals failed intermittently and operation of hazard switch would be restore them temporially. 3. replaced hazard signal switch and the old part is available.
The turn signals are inoperative in normal driving modes, I can not show intent of left or right signaling. I brought the vehicle to the dealer and the signal assembly and the multi-function switch was thought to be defective and repaired for a cost of $557. Within a day, the signaling problems surfaced again and was then scheduled for a follow-up appointment. The vehicle was found to have a defective hazard warning switch, at a repair cost of an additional cost of $149.79. This is extremely a lot of money to pay for a defective part, and has caused much hardship. Please refer to 2001 Chevrolet Malibu recall, NHTSA: 03V327000 and auto recall date 20030828. I am formally requesting financial assistance on this matter.
The contact stated when the turn signals are in use they will only flash once or twice before the light stays on. The contact must push in the hazard light switch to get the turn signals to flash on and off correctly. The vehicle has not been taken to the dealership for inspection. Dealer replaced switch hazard warning switch.
