The vehicle accelerated by itself as I was turning into a parking space, the engine revving so loudly a person stopped and observed the collision as the Impala crashed into a parked vehicle directly in front of it on the other side. Nothing would stop the acceleration except manually forcing the car into park.

Re: date complaint filed: 03/15/2011 component(s): Vehicle speed control date of incident: 03/11/2011 NHTSA id number: 10390238 every once in a while my 2000 Impala with a 3400cc V6 would maintain 50mph with my foot off the gas! the cause is an intermittent malfunction of the tps sensor. It took my Impala 3 years to throw a code and after I replaced the tps, the car's throttle settled down.
My car started to over heat in the middle of winter in Minnesota. There was plenty of coolant in the reservoirs. While the vehicle was idling there was a noise and once I started to move again the car began to jerk then the check engine light came on while attempting to accelerate. Then a few weeks later the gas gauge began showing the incorrect about of gas levels in my vehicle.
The contact owns a 2000 Chevrolet Impala. While driving approximately 30 mph the vehicle accelerated on its own. The contact applied pressure to the brake pedal and was able to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer diagnostic testing. The contact stated that she had not driven the vehicle since the failure occurred. The cruise control also deactivated on its own on a different occasion and failed to function normally. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 180,000.
I drove around the rear of my home which is where my garage is located. I came to a complete stop. I activated my garage opener from my vehicle. Once the garage door completed opened I took my foot off the brake pedal and all of a sudden my car accelerated to a high speed. I could not stop the car. The car jumped a 9 inch ledge and I crashed through my garage wall, and into my basement and the car finally stopped in my basement when it hit my computer desk.
I was driving into the parking lot of my place of employment. I was going slowly and all of a sudden the car accelerated to a high rate of speed and, I could not stop. I crashed into a cyclone fence, 2 central A/C units, went down a hill and nearly crashed into 2 poles. I finally stopped the car by holding the brakes and shutting the car off.
The A/C system stinks due to water retention in the heater which caused mold. The dealer could mask the odor but could not eliminate it. A loud bang occurred when the vehicle was started in cool or cold weather. The dealer indicated it was due to an electrical spike. The vehicle experienced sudden acceleration while merging into traffic. The brakes rotors have failed three times, every 20000 miles on average.
There is a clicking sound coming from steering wheel when consumer is turning left or right. Contacted dealer, and after three tries dealer could not find the cause. Dealer has replaced the steering shaft assembly and the steering gear. Steering wheel shakes when brakes are applied. Cruise control was inoperable.
When attempted to stop on incline hill, and let brake pedal go, vehicle rolled backward without a prior warning. Consumer was concerned about it. Please consumer provide more information.
Repeat failure: Warmed car parked one hour. Enter car, start engine, back slowly from parking. Put transmission in drive, depressed throttle moderately-balk/hesitated/"lean balk"-more throttle=worse, lasts 7 seconds, then comes to life.near accident pulling into traffic!
Our Impala has had a problem where it hesitates and stumbles when you try and accelerate since it was new. The dealer has not been able to identify the cause. This a hazard! I think we should get our money back but they keep giving us the run around "you bought and now it's yours". I think that stinks! I see other complaints concerning this problem on your web site, can't you guys contact GM and demand they do something about this?
Car rolls backward when engine running and foot taken off brake to go forward. Requires the brake to remain engaged and gas pedal pressed at same time. My roll backward if not done with using both feet. It's an automatic car transmission. Dealers deny this is a problem and refuse to correct it. Please help.
Engine falters, falls flat for approx 7 seconds pulling into traffic. Temp=72 deg, hum= 85%. fully warmed car parked 1hr+15min. Restarted, ran fine 15 sec., major hesitation when throttle applied, finally came to life after 7 sec. And near-miss pulling into traffic flow. Third occur in 30 days. Warm engine + one hr. Park + 85% rh. Are factors
After driving(full warmup),car parked. Restart car 45min to 1 hr. Later.put in drive, engine has faltering/hesitation upon leaving parking space. "falls on face. W/ 2 OR3 dull percussion sounds as throttle increased." Won't repeat. Runs fine after. Particularly evident @ temp. Above 75 deg. & high humidity. Dealer could not replicate. No computer codes. Dealer claims no adjustments."need new factory downloads for computer if widespread problem supported by customer complaints. Jlm zip14519
