2000 Chevrolet Impala. Consumer writes in regards to GM recall #14350.* ld the consumer stated prior to receiving the recall, she experienced several problems with the vehicle, such as: The gas needle stopped working, a loud thumping noise was heard, every time she attempted to start the vehicle. Also, the engine light illuminated, and it wouldn't go off. The repair shop was unable to determine the problem. The consumer was involved in an accident and the air bag did not deploy.
Accelerator sticks, engine will not slow down, without touching the gas pedal the car will accelerate to approx 45 mph the only way to stop is hold on the brakes untill you can shut the car off, this was happening intermittantly at first now it does it all the time.
Vehicle is experiencing problem with hesitation when applying accelerator pedal from a stop position. Vehicle been in dealer's shop on three occasions, and unable to locate the problem. Feel free to provide any further details on this matter.
When vehicle was at a stop starting to accelerate consumer could step on accelerator pedal, but vehicle won't move. Pedal could go to the floor, and sometimes had to pump it to work. Dealer stated that could be computer related.
