Check engine light stays on all the time. Can't get it to go off. Put computer on it and it will go off for a few minutes but right back on.

Impala

  • Automatic transmission
  • 270,000 miles

I bought a 2000 impala from a local dealer car has 270000 miles on it but ran great. Got it home and drove it for 2 weeks and it started not wanted to take the gas, then it eventually started shutting off. Took it to my local mechanic who change the wires, ignition modulator and a some different sensors. Got the car back and it ran fine for 3 days and would shut off while driving so I would put it in N a crank it while still driving then it eventually just stop. Got the fuel pump check it was fine, know i was inform that when trying to crank it, it is turning but not firing. Already put about 800 in the car. Can anyone give me a reason why it will stop firing like that. Don't want to spend anymore money playing the guessing game.

Check Engine light comes on in warm weather and temporarily goes away if I remove the gas cap and replace it. I have purchased two new gas caps to no avail.
