We were leaving North Myrtle Beach due to Tropical Storm Idalia. (This was a hurricane when it hit Florida.) We were going by our friend’s home, which is 4 miles from our house. A few blocks from their home, the Chevy Express shut down in the middle of a turn, thus it was blocking the street. It would not start back up. People trying to get around it were irate. Finally, after about ½ hour, it started up and Bruce Parker was able to get it to the side of the narrow street so that it wasn’t blocking the entire street. In the meantime, Cynthia Parker is calling Chevrolet Roadside Assistance. They really weren’t any help at all.
In order to get the RV out of the way, Bruce Parker and our friend decided to put a strap on the RV and tow it to their home, in order for it to be out of the way.
We were unable to leave North Myrtle Beach ahead of a storm for the second time. We left our truck on high ground and got a ride back to the house. Again, we had a flooded yard, but only about 4 inches under the house. We could have been inland in our RV, but it had shut off again.
Chevrolet Roadside Assistance was no help. I ended up calling 7 different service centers. One finally suggested that I call GM customer care the next day. I was on the phone for 4 hours + that day and on the day before at least for 45 minutes or more.
Today, September 5, 2023, I'm still waiting for GM Customer Care to get in touch as promised. They said that I would hear from them by Tuesday (today) with a place that will fix our Chevy Express RV. It's is now 1:49 PM and I haven't heard from them yet.
With research, I have found that there are numerous 2021 GM products that have been recalled due to the fuel module issue. Our vehicle wasn't one of the ones recalled, but it obviously has the same problem. This is very, very dangerous. Plus, it's a Class C RV. We are away from home and have nothing else to drive when we are away in the RV. We also have had plans twice to evaculate due to a hurrican or tropical storm to go inland and the RV was either in the shop or it broke down on us. It has less than 5,000 miles on it. We should not have to worry about driving it across county, leastwise across the county or inland to higher ground.
