Affected Component: FUEL SYSTEM, OTHER:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP
- Summary
- 13410 - EMISSIONS RECALL. CLEANFUEL HAS DECIDED TO CONDUCT A VOLUNTARY EMISSION RECALL INVOLVING CERTAIN VEHICLES, EQUIPPED WITH A 3-TANK LIQUEFIED PETROLEUM GAS (LPG) SYSTEM (KO7 WITH UFM). THE LPG FUEL TANKS ON THESE VEHICLES MAY NOT HAVE BEEN CLEANED SUFFICIENTLY TO REMOVE WELD DEBRIS PARTICLES DURING THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS. IF WELD DEBRIS IS IN THE TANK AND IS ALLOWED INTO THE FUEL PUMP DURING NORMAL OPERATION, THE LPG THAT IS CONTINUOUSLY CYCLED THROUGH THE FUEL PUMP WILL FLUSH THE DEBRIS THROUGH THE FUEL PUMP. HOWEVER, IF THE VEHICLE IS ON A HILL AND NO LPG IS CYCLED THROUGH THE FUEL PUMP, THE DEBRIS WILL NOT BE FLUSHED THROUGH THE FUEL PUMP AND CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE FUEL PUMP. IF DAMAGE OCCURS, THE FUEL PUMP WILL BEGIN MAKING NOISE AND EVENTUALLY, THE VEHICLE MAY NOT START. DEALERS ARE TO CLEAN THE FUEL TANKS AND THE TANK MAGNETS, AND REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP.
