2007 Chevrolet GM3500. Consumer writes in regards to braking system failure. The consumer stated while driving the brakes locked up. The consumer was able to pull the vehicle to the shoulder. The brake lights did not illuminate. After sitting a few minutes, the vehicle went back to normal operation. The brake failure would continue to occur often. The consumer stated the engime light would illuminate when the failure occured. The vehicle was repaired following a service bulletin, but was too soon to tell if the failure would recur.

The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Express 1500. The contact stated that while driving at 40 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and traveled to the floor board. As a result, the contact crashed into the rear of another vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. The contact and other driver sustained whip lash. No medical attention was required. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the hydraulic brake line failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact also mentioned that he felt like the installation of the brake lining was faulty. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 58,000. Mounting brackets for both front brake caliper hoses were bent forward, causing hoses to contact insides of front tires when wheels were turned. Right/passenger hose wore through, causing loss of brake fluid and loss of braking. Driver managed to stop vehicle safely. Vehicle was then towed to shop for repairs.
