1 of many issues with this van. 62000 miles. Rear brake line blew, luckily in my driveway. Upon inspection all the lines in the rear need replaced. Funny thing is the bottomside of the van is as clean as can be. I bought this van 2 years old with 24000 miles, I'm extremely picky about my vehicles and am a maintenance nut. Always garaged, waxed numerous time a year, synthetic fluids..... here is a list of what I remember has gone wrong with this van. Intake gaskets, twice. Front bumper reinforcement rotted out 40,000 miles, rear chrome bumper rotted 40,000 miles, ac line corroded thru, transmission grenaded at 42,000 mile(sun shield failure?), left window motor has dead spot in it from day 1. remember this is a very well maintained, always garaged, mainly driven for vacations. GM is well aware of all these issues and wouldn't help on any.
The first time May 2009 my brakes failed going down a hill, it turns out the main brake line had rotted out and I lost pressure to the rear brakes, I was lucky there was no one coming thru the intersection because I could not stop, my van was loaded and weighed 10,000 lbs. This is the second time the brake lines failed on this van Sept 2012 the rear axle brake line failed on the highway just lucky no one was in front of me. I have a 1985 GM van that has the original brake lines on it and they are in very good shape. I have a 1965 Toyota FJ45 that has the original brake lines on it and no corrosion on them. What is wrong here these lines should last a life time it is a safety item. Now I will replace them all with new brake lines because I can't trust the rest of them now I don't want to die or kill someone else.
