We are driving UP the Beltway 8, ship channel bridge, its around 2:30 in the afternoon and my car dies! My car is just over a year old and has around 16K miles on it. Just to paint the picture, this is a steep incline bridge with no shoulder. It is high traffic for 18 wheelers all day, hence the the ship channel. It is concrete wall, two tight lanes one way, concrete wall, two tight lanes the other way another concrete wall, did I mention the no shoulder part! Anyway, the car dies with my husband driving, my elderly mother and myself in the car. The car will not restart the engine is trying but just won't turn over. I am almost went into full panic mode calling my mothers AAA before remembering I pay for Onstar. I hit the onstar button and they are like did you get safely out of the road on the shoulder I explain there isn't one and we are blocking traffic. They transferred me to 911 emergency, while talking to them a passing tow truck pulls in front of us and offers to get us out of the way. While talking to him a passing police officer stops and at least helps keep us from getting run over. I explained all this to the 911 dispatcher and end the call.
The tow truck is a single cab so the officer offered to take my mother and myself and the hubby rode in the tow truck. My mother has been panicking this whole time and she is settled into the back of a patrol car and using her inhaler because she can't breath. We are taken to gas station to figure out what to do next because we live over an hour away. The police officer left and now we are all piled into a single cab tow truck being taken to a Chevrolet dealership down the road. The guy that works in the service department is like oh yeah we are seeing this more lately its probably the fuel module we can get it fixed quickly. I'm sorry, why is this happening often!?!? Three HOURS later, I am not sure what you consider quick but three hours isn't it, sorry still get wound up thinking about it! Now I am here after a google search that lead me to a class action suit for this fuel module that I am lucky didn't get us killed!
