While driving early one morning (before 5am), the radio volume went up to max level, without command. OMG, it hurt my ears, possibly damaging speakers. I attempted to turn it down, but it was like someone was holding the button and forcing it up, the volume was going up faster than I could turn it down - and the radio would NOT shut off with the power button. I stopped the card in middle of the road, shut off car, and opened door to get it to stop (you can see how dangerous this could be if on a highway or busy road). When I restarted the car, same thing, tried three or four times to no avail. Finally, I hit the push-to-talk button on the steering wheel, and it seemed to stop it. I think I woke up the entire neighborhood!
* Took to dealer, and they said they could not duplicate it so they did nothing, even though I found a TSB on the issue and an attempted Class Action Lawsuit for this problem. Apparently, I have the latest Radio Software, which has not been updated for a couple years or more (v135116-LS, 2020-10-02). Contacted GM online chat - they gave me the same exact, to-the "T" speech/chat - that they "need to duplicate the problem to fix it". Mind you, the car is still under warranty and this issue exists on numerous Chevys with the 7 inch IOR, as found on internet. I asked to have the service manager contact me since he was not there when I picked up the vehicle, and of course, he never called. I own 3 Chevys, the other two are great, but I think I am done with GM after this experience. (This was not my first issue with this car, under warranty - scared for what's next).
