I was in a torrential downpour on my way to work. My windshield wipers completely stopped. I could see nothing. Horns started blaring, tires screeching and cars traveling at 60-70 miles per hour. Very lucky I was not hit. Rolled down my side window so I could see to pull over. Got to shoulder of highway. Car rocked every time someone passed and water flying on car with each passing car. Waited on shoulder for 1 hour for AAA to arrive. Towed me to nearest company open. It was 6:15 in the morning and not many were open.
They replaced the motor of the windshield wipers.
Surprisingly we received a recall notice in the mail the next day for the ball joints of the wipers.
Contacted the manufacturer and the dealer and both are still undecided if they will reimburse us because it's the ball joints in the recall and not the motor.
It stated that the ball joints, if bad could cause the wipers to stop. I feel if it were the ball joints it could also cause the motor to fail.
