Car received a front impact and airbags did not deploy despite the alert on the dash saying -??service airbags-?? immediately after collision. Seat belts engaged though.
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds on a several occasion, the air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 130,000.
Drivers seat back rest air bag randomly deployed when I was in park, in my driveway taking my seat belt. Bruised my arm/ side of body pretty good. I had no idea how that could happen however, I connected my scanner tool to the car and come to find out I had 7 air bag/srs codes. After that happened all of my seat belts locked up, and per the scanner, it says a few other air bags have deployed but they haven't. This happened a while ago, (wife's car) and I haven't had time to reach out about it. I still drive it just to work and back but I disconnected the srs module in fear of the air bags the scanner tool said deployed WILL deploy while I'm driving. No previous codes or air bag light were shown before that occurred along with no previous repairs or modifications at the time were done besides regular maintenence. Hasn't been inspected but the light is still on, they're hard codes that can't be cleared, and the deployed air bag/seat back cover is still present.
When starting my vehicle I get a message on the dash that service is needed for the airbag. I took my vehicle to a chevy dealer and a diagnostic test was performed. I have not had the work done at this time. However I know it is needed and in the process of scheduling an appointment. I have always owned Chevy's and have never had a problem with the airbags. I know this is a safety issue and should be a concern for the company. I truly think this should be on the recall list. The contact stated that while driving at 45 mph, another vehicle in front of the contact's made a left turn but the contact was not able to brake in time and rear-ended the other vehicle. No air bags were deployed. The contact was transported by ambulance for a compression fracture on her vertebrae. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard and deemed totaled by the insurance company. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.

On Dec 31, 2020 I struck a deer on a county rd going approx 45mph. The impact was so hard the drive train was shoved into the car and the radiator exploded and the entire front passenger side was destroyed. Neither pass. Nor drivers side doors would open. The car is a total loss yet the airbags never deployed throughout the entire vehicle but you could see a white powdery smoke and it smell as if they did and the car now says service airbags. Also the driver and passenger side seat belt never retracted back and my daughter and I were both injured as I was slammed into the steering wheel suffering damage to my chest and face and her head/ face bounced off the dash due to the air bags not deploying and the seatbelts not working. We are lucky we weren't killed as the entire front end of the vehicle, engine included was pushed to the inside of the car. We were going to look into getting us another Equinox as I had just had this one for about seven months but I absolutely loved it but after reading all these reports that are identical to ours as far as seatbelts and airbags go and realizing this is a very common thing with 2015 Equinox and after this happening to us it's obvious this vehicle is not safe to drive or at least not safe to get into an accident with and it sounds like there needs to be a recall but yet that hasn't happened. I have read hundreds of reports exactly like this one. I'm very disappointed in Chevy for letting this continually happen with no recall or warning to your customers.. a police report was filed on this and injuries did occur. The police officer and the wrecker driver said they've never seen a deer do so much damage to a vehicle before and the officer could not believe that the airbags did not deploy on us and said that we most definitely need to check into it because he would assume that they were recalled but here we are and they're not.
We hit a deer going 70 mph last night on interstate 10 headed westbound, upon impact the airbags did not go off. We smelled something that smelled like it was burning, it was the igniter to the airbags. Now the car is giving us a service airbag message on the screen. Our airbags all failed to deploy.
I was driving home and drove over a pot hole in the road when I was turning at intersection, then approximately 3-5 seconds after curtain air bags deployed as well as the one from steering wheel. The steering wheel air bag did not fully inflate due to metal fragments that were shot out causing a puncture to the air bag and those fragments caused puncture wounds to my arm, and cracked the driver side door window. I was not in a collision at that time. I have the report from my insurance where it states this car had a recall for air bag issues one being that objects may cause injury and or death from shooting out. I had taken my vehicle to the dealership in June due to the stabilities and service air bags light was on. This was not disclosed to me at the time of purchase and any other time I took it in for services. After investigation thru my insurance it was declared a total loss. I have tried repeatedly and unsuccessfully, to reach out to management for over a month now and they seem to not want to help. I have photos to show condition of the vehicle, the 23 page report from my insurance as well as my injuries. I put $5000 down, included in that was a trade in. Now im left without a car and dealing with a dealership that seems not to care. On the 23rd page is where it states this vehicle may be one of the affected ones. Well it was because it happened to me. The insurance took possession of car over 2 weeks ago.
First the service airbag light comes on and none of the buttons on the steering wheel work. Now the horn is continuously blowing while driving, and won't stop until the car is turned off.
I was driving home from work.while making a turn my car was unable to brake. I slammed into a telephone pole which my airbags did not deploy. My car hit the pole a hard right. My head and neck was push forward extremely fast causing trauma.

The airbag light came on and then the car got stuck in park. Now the key want come out the ignition. Took it to the dealer he said the passenger airbag module needs to be replaced and the battery terminal needs to be replaced.
Service airbag dash light/alarm comes on every 10 seconds whether someone is in the seat or not. Was told that I needed to replace the passenger side presence detector and module.
Takata recall: My car was involved in a 3 car crash at the corner of 28th ave N and 4th St. N on December 14, 2018. I was in the median waiting to cross oncoming traffic when I perceived the lanes were clear and proceeded to cross the road. I was T-boned by an oncoming Dodge avenger, into the front end of a Jeep Wrangler and pushed into a stop sign. My airbags failed to deploy but the avenger's passenger and driver airbags deployed.I was taken to bayfront er by ambulance and admitted to trauma department suffering a sternum fracture and compressed chest injuries. My left hand also suffered a possible fracture. The police report is not factual. It states my airbags were deployed but from the picture you can clearly see they were not and the insurance adjuster will testify that they were not deployed.
