The vehicle has significant engine vibration in the passenger cabin and steering column. The dealer tested engine vibration with a vibration meter by comparing engine vibration to another Equinox on their lot. My vehicle's engine vibration at 150k miles is 60% stronger than the other 2014 Equinox on their lot with only 100k miles.
The dealer checked the motor mounts and placed a scanner on the vehicle to examine the engine components operation. The mounts look good and there are no trouble codes present in the system. I have gone to three different repair facilities and none of them can tell me what is wrong with the vehicle.
The vibration is significantly stronger when the transmission is placed in reverse and backed up quickly or up a driveway. However, the transmission shifts and operates fine.
Vehicle Carfax shows the vehicle was maintained very well with oil changes every 5k miles. Vehicle is clean inside and out and even free of any rust which is unheard of for an Equinox in the north approaching 10 years old. For now I will just have to keep driving it until something fails or falls apart. Seems like that's the only way I will every find out the cause of this annoying vibration. When you buy an midgrade or higher SUV you just don't expect it to ride like a Yugo.
