The 2.4l Ecotec engine is easily one of the worst modern engines ever, ever since new, the engine has never ran smoothly. Not in a way that there's something wrong with it, it's just how they are. This is a very unrefined and poorly designed engine, with problems from everything from the PCV valve to the timing chain.
One of them are cheap piston rings that wear out prematurely causing excessive oil consumption, which clogs the PCV valve, which then blows the rear main seal which if the engine is running during the seal failure, blows the engine. There's also a class action lawsuit on them too, just google it. Stay away from this weak unreliable garbage motor.
