I bought this 2013 Chevrolet Equinox from a dealer who raved about how well taken care of it was and how it had only had 1 owner. They also said it had been through their shop so they tacked on a 90 day/3000 mile warranty. Sadly the motor did not start making a noise until about 4,000 miles when I realized it was 4 quarts low on oil. It waited until then to start making a sound that was concerning enough to pop the hood on a car that I had only had about 6 months. I added the oil and thankfully it still ran, but I was worried about the damage running that low on oil could cause so I called the dealer I bought it from and explained the circumstances to them. They said because it had exceeded the time period of the warranty that there was nothing they could or would do to help me.

I took it to a different shop to have it checked and that shop gave me the green light to keep driving it. I even had them change the oil, oil filter, plugs, and wires while it was there. Getting all that done made it worse when it locked up in the middle of a busy road on a hot day. It took the tow truck driver 45 minutes and cost me $140 to get it towed back to the shop. Initially it was thought to be a loose timing chain that would cost about $1500 to fix, but once they motor was tore apart a little more they found bent rods and valves meaning that the $1500 cost had now ballooned to $5000. I got to drive the vehicle a total of 5000 miles before having to shell out half of its value to get it back on the road.

What a piece of junk. I will never buy an American made vehicle again. It made me even more angry when I found out the GM had been sued of this crappy engine and lost and instead of doing the right thing to help their customers by issuing a recall they decided to save money and do a useless warranty extension which was long out of date when my engine blew up. Thanks for nothing General Motors.

The motor of my SUV went out. I changed and topped the oil regularly and had inspections on my car. I though I was doing the right thing by taking car of my SUV. There is warranty protection under Car Shield. It has been in the shop for over 20 days and have not received a response about my car. The oil pump from what the mechanic told me was an internal problem when it was towed to the shop. This was something that was out of my control. Chevy is the blame for this because oil pumps never have to be replaced until a car last 200K miles. What I want is answers and an explanation about this. The only good thing is that my timing chain never failed.

Equinox LX

Had this vehicle over 6 years - and there were problems from the first 6 months, Oil consumption tests, then the fuel pump went in the first 6 months and brought it back to dealer several times in the first 2 years. I was advised by dealer that is normal and they pushed me out the door and in the middle of the 2nd year the fuel pump that was put in my truck was now over warranty, so I had to purchase a new one and have that put in.

As of now I have to replace the engine which I am still paying on the vehicle and what do I do? Give up my truck that I have paid on over 6 years and still have 1 more year to go and lose more money or save money to try to get a rebuilt engine and have someone put it in? All these years of driving never have I ever been through this ever before. The vehicle was even towed to the dealer for inspection no one could tell me how this happened, just that the engine seized which I have to pay $187.00 for - Ridiculous. Buy American-made they say!!! Really - I am so upset that this happened and I can't get help from anyone on why I am now stuck with a car I have to put more money in for no apparent reason. IF anyone can help...
