Purchased my 2012 chevy equinox in Oct. 2019 and since then have Purchased and had installed complete timing chain repair kits on two seprate occasions as well as had the catalytic converters replaced all due to high oil consumption. Overall the repair costs have become too high yo continue operating this vehicle, especially since it is showing strong indicators that the timing chain and related components are again needing to be replaced very soon.

2012 Chevy Equinox 2.4 ecotec engine. Car engine needs to be replaced. Oil consumption damaging timing chain. GM won't help, they just say that I can pay to have a new engine installed. I can't believe that they don't have to be held accountable for this issue. If they knowingly are putting junk engines into vehicles and only warranting them to a certain milage and year which clearly is before they basically blow up is criminal and they need to be held responsible. GM needs to replace all of these in every vehicle regardless.

Went in for an oil change after being overdue by over 1k and started at $235. Within an hour, the price skyrocketed to $4000. Had to replace timing chain, pistons, rings, tensioners, bolts...almost all parts of the engine. I'll never buy American made again! Have only had this car for 2 years!!

OK, wife was driving to work, car acts up again...engine light comes on, goes into engine safe mode and won't let her go over 35 mph. Takes it directly to dealership. after last two issues, which were covered by warranty, engine has been torn down three times and rebuilt twice (rings and pistons) under warranty. That was for the oil consumption issue. So this time, after tear down to point of failure, timing chain had slipped. Dealer told us not covered under current warranty as it was not related to the original failures...so we paid almost $900.00 to have fixed and still waiting for call back from moco...not impressed with GMC/Chevy!! Wife called moco and its been almost a week with no call back. Will call them again to see if they can assist in this lemonmobile.
