Still do not have air conditioning except for when car feels like it, also no heat. I swear I want to use this piece of sh*t for target practice.

Was driving and it was 90 some degrees outside and was blowing hot air... Took it in and had to have it fixed because I have to have cold air when driving... I was not expecting to have to put the money out because I am on a fixed income and have never had a problem with air conditioning until I bought this one... For only being 4 years old it should not of gone out like it did... I see there is no recalls on my vehicle for this

I was so happy to be able to get a great deal on my used 2011 Chevy Equinox. I wanted to be patriotic and buy American. OMG what a foolish old granny, and a hot and sweaty one too! I do live in Florida with temps in the 90s every day. So my air conditioning goes out. I can just open the windows and deal with it until I get it fixed, right? No, not right. Because the #^%$*& HEATER is on and it won't turn off!

Of course, it's the weekend and there are places I have to go. I make an appointment with the dealer, which is a 35 mile drive in 90-degree heat. Pull into the service line. Turn off the car to get relief from the heater blowing on me. Then the service guy comes to check me in and I tell him I'll show him what's been going on for three days. Turn on the car and whaddya know, the A/C is working just fine.

To give them credit, they ran diagnostics and said they couldn't find any error codes, but they didn't charge me anything. I figure it's a fluke--but I soon realize that the air temp is no longer adjustable. It is freezing cold. Better than sweating to death, I can always wear my hoodie! But obviously not OK.

Today the heater came back on instead of the A/C. The clutch for the compressor is working fine, the compressor is running, and the pipes going into the car for the AC are cold. I see from everyone's posts that Equinox A/C is a major problem. Has anyone had this particular problem and do you know a fix?? Good luck, fellow sufferers.

Update from Aug 11, 2015: When I started the car today, the heater was off and the air was back on, but freezing cold and not adjustable. Even with the A/C off, it continued to blow cold air. Even when the heat was turned to 80 degrees, the air continued to blow. Went into the dealer, no appointment, and showed them what was going on. It finally seemed to dawn on them what I had explained was happening the first time. It was there for about four hours and they called to say it was a temperature actuator. Picked it up and it seems to be working, although like others on this forum I now have to turn the temp way down to get cold enough air. It's only been a day, so I won't say it's fixed but maybe the info will help someone.
