I have had my vehicle for only a year and bought it used from a dealership here in town. I understand that the vehicle is nearly 12 years old though I have seen vehicles that were way older and not have half the problems that I am having with mine and it has been well keep and maintenance has been up to date. Early this week my car had been warming up for nearly 30 minutes and I put it in drive and it jerk harder then normal. I just thought it was because it went from hot to cold outside overnight that that was the problem. Though as I was driving down the street my check engine light came on and the vehicle was stalling in between 35-40 mph. So I got it check out and the code said that it was a transmission shift solenoid. I then took it to Chevy to make sure that, that was the issues and the dealership Penske Chevrolet confirmed that it was and that many of the Equinox-??s, cruzes, and traverses from the year 2009 until 2019 Health exact same issue and that several people did the complaint form in their dealership I did research online and it-??s true many people complain about this issue but I think they don-??t know where to go to file a proper complaint. I think that this problem not being recalled is absurd because it-??s costing people nearly 4, five, $6000 because of this issue when if many and I do mean many people are having this issue then chevy needs to fix this.
I have had oil consumption problems. Changed oil before due made all maintenance work on time or before due. Right after I bought it I put the main seal in it. Because it was leaking oil. That was$1000 more added to my loan. Put 4 hub bears on the front because of the steering instabilities which corrected it for a short time. But now that I am trying to sell the car I hear there is a recall on the motor but when I run it here there isn't so i am stuck. It hurts me to ride or drive it due to spine issues. And now I am stuck with this suv. Thank you GM for having us buy American.
I took my SUV to the dealership on 1-8-2020 and informed them that engine light stayed on, and had a little shake, felt like it was going to cut off, and it was burning oil, left vehicle at dealership for a couple of hours, got a call saying there was no oil on dip stick, so there was a oil change did, and told to drive for 1000 miles then return for recheck, possible camshaft position fault, drove car, but before it meet the 1000 miles in had to add a quart of oil to vehicle this was over the weekend, called and informed dealership they said to bring it back so they could check it, took SUV back and was told they couldn't find nothing wrong, but it was still taking alot of oil, now the camshaft is no good, they just didn't want to fix the problem when the warranty was on it, now that the warranty is gone they want me to pay for the work, fyi there was a warranty on the SUV when I was complaining so it could have be fixed then, the same problem I was complaining about, is the same problem I got now, why do dealerships always get over people, the camshaft went out 11-23-2020
Car consumes entirely to much oil. Every week I am putting 2 quarts of oil in even after getting a fresh oil change. Engine is loud/rattling has been ever since I purchased the car. I have been putting money in this car since I purchased it. Now check engine light is on. Says I need a new timing from what I am being told that is basically a new engine. The radio goes out and comes back on, yesterday the volume on the radio was going up & down by itself. The main issue is a engine and the oil. There is no way this is a known issue with almost every compliant that I have seen so far and there has been no recall on this how insane. I will never purchase another car from GM again! the windshield wiper motor went out twice, this is a overall terrible engine and car. The car is loud when it is running and when you accelerate, turn the car all of the above. I had the muffler and some other things fixed and it's still loud, the noise is coming from the engine.

I've had countless issues from this vehicle since I've gotten it between a constant check engine light having to replace all the sensors and it goes away or oil like nobody's business I stay putting oil in it twice a week as of the past few days I was coming home from taking my brother to karate and my check engine light start flashing in my stability track came on and due to the oil leak it cause my engine to crack a ring so now my vehicle is basically totaled its heartbreaking cuz the amount of money and repairs are put into it it's been one problem after another I highly do not recommend this car to anybody
This year and model of the Chevrolet Equinox has a known issue for oil consumption. I am getting an oil change, on average, every 1,500 miles. My car has stall while driving on the interstate. It stalls most mornings after being turned on for 15-20 seconds. I've also had it stall when changing gears. This is very unsafe for any driver and then engine needs to be replaced.
I've taken my Equinox to multiple mechanics and no one ever told me anything about it. My vehicle uses an excessive amount of engine oil after. My oil changes have to be every 3 weeks.. when turning on my vehicle it sounds like a tractor is ready to go. I have a small SUV that I know never made that loud noise.
The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle stalled. The driver's side seat failed to move up and down. Additionally, the vehicle was consuming an extreme amount of oil. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact called sands Chevrolet ' surprise (16991 w waddell rd, surprise, AZ 85388, (623) 428-1865) however, the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who referred the contact to the local dealer. The contact stated that failure was like NHTSA campaign number: 14V447000 (seats). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,000.
I put in a new Cadillac converter and every time I turn around I have to change the O2 sensors bank1 02 sensor keeps giving me P034 & P054 in a permanent P0420 it gets very expensive changing the same repairs over and over again. This happen when I'm in motion, the engine light comes on all the time.

My car began overconsuming oil the moment I bought it in 2016. It broke down on the highway and had no oil it even though I just had the oil replaced merely days before. We were in another state, so I had to have the car towed and rented a rental car for several days. It cost me over $1,000 to complete the repair and associated rental costs. Ultimately, the car was subject to an oil consumption test and the entire engine had to be rebuilt. Last year, my transmission completely went out while driving on a street. I had to get that replaced too. Now GM is refusing to cover the cost of the repair under the class action settlement for the oil consumption issue.
I have spent more than 10K on repairs on my car due to the excessive oil consumption problems. That includes a replacement of engine and catalytic converter, plus other repairs while they tried to find out what was wrong with the engine. I am part of the class-action lawsuit and I have provided all documents to the settler and my claim has been denied. Never buying a GM vehicle again.
I got the vehicle April 12th,2019 driving to work vehicle check engine light came on then died. Oil change end of Oct through midas. Towed to GM part of class action lawsuit berman B motors claim being denied as saying outside of sca date. They say sca date 12/14/2009 the vehicle wasn't made until June of 2010. I had it towed in 12/11/2019 they couldn't service immediately as rural area and other vehicles waiting before mine. Got vehicle out 1/28/2020. Claim was denied saying was outside sca date. Cause found by tech was engine damage due to excessive oil consumption. Many engine parts were replaced. Timing chain and valves were covered by GM when mgr of art hassler seen it was a Equinox then put back in line becauseof date the repair had to be done. $2300 and over to get out. 2 service papers. No oil light came on. May still have debris in engine. Needs exhaust manifold, ball joints just had front brakes replaced and sensor that said all wheel drive is off feature at midas. Its always something. GM should do something they should have approved my claim as it was in the shop the whole time from 12/11/2019 to 1/28/2020. They haven't offered any resolution or money off a new vehicle nothing. Something needs to be done. There are too many of us who have had the same exact problems. Thank you for your time.
No one told me when I got this car how bad the oil consumption was! I go through 5 quarts of oil in less than 2,000 miles. It's stalled out while driving with no warning. It's super dangerous
I love my car was so proud of bessy! I was on my way to work and it just stopped. Wouldn't crank. Got it home to be told that it's the timing chain. That's $1000-$1500 that I don't have. Especially since I'm taking care of my mother N law since my father N law died from cancer. And now my husband can't work due to being almost crippled. I started doing some research due to hearing about a lot of problems with the vehicle after I bought it. Turns out that a lot of people, almost everybody who owns a Chevy Equinox has the same problem! why is this"? why has this not been fixed yet?? why keep making the same mistake again again?? now my car is sitting in the yard. I have a 7 yr old son that I can't even take to the doctor with no way of going or the rest of my family. Someone please tell me what is chevelot going to do about this??" 2.4-liter ecotec engines suffer from the defect that consumes oil at a very high rate. The primary cause of the defect is malfunctioning piston rings, which are prone to premature wear, the judge's order states. The defect necessitates the need for the car owner to replenish the car's oil more frequently. We change oil every month because of this problem but now is worse because is coming now white smoke and shaking all the engine so its now out of road my Equinox so I am waiting for this solution from GM but not answers.
My vehicle leaks a lot of oil internally. I was told by my mechanic that my intake valves are covered in oil and my pistons are also containing oil. The mechanism to control/drain that oil doesn't work. Because of this the car is knocking and stalling at idle.
Computer chip malfunction, stability trac, smoke from exhaust with fumes released into the interior, , driver seat malfunction, and other that I cannot do it into words, this all happened when vehicle had 138,000 miles and also check engine light, fuel pump, ignition compartment, vehicle is a 2010 Chevy Equinox all wheel drive ltz and also the AWD does not work lights flickering multiple malfunctions wheels lock up something with the differential I don't know it does not even shift when I put it in the manual I've done everything I could to get inspections and I cannot find the right dealer to give me an answer they all just want my money and I'm an honest person and I want to help a great mechanic out by bringing them business and referring them customers I don't know what to do I'm stuck I need help please I have a one-year-old son I have a family and we have one vehicle and it's the Chevy Equinox, oh and also there's two different size tires being that it's all-wheel drive the front tires have smaller wheels I mean smaller tires than there is on the rears so both fronts and passenger are smaller than the re ar driver and rear passenger the ones on the rear are correct and was supposed to be on that came out of factory they're supposed to be all four of the same of the ones that are on the rear because of the fact it's all wheel drive and they can mess up the transmission and I think it did but I'm not sure I need professional help asap thank you so much and have a blessed day
It uses oil like crazy. We have changed everything, besides getting a new motor. I was driving home from work tonight and the ABS and traction control light came on out of no where. My brakes where trying to lock up. When you crank it now it makes a funny noice
