I brought it in for jumping the timing. While there for that I told I'm the fan for heater not kicking in. It was mid-winter in Wis. I need my windows to defrost. They replaced heater/fan while doing the timing jump issue.
The heat has stopped working on our 2010 Equinox which causes an unsafe vehicle to drive because without the heater in winter the windows can't defrost. Tried calling Chevy but got nowhere.
So, I hope this issue happens to you when you are in your driveway or during the summer. As for me, I found out with nearly having a head on collision. Driving home from work the cars defrosters stopped working and the windows began to frost up. Being on a busy road, I decided to pull off. At that point the weather was dropping below 10 degrees and my car was blowing cold air on the window slightly, reducing visibility at night to nothing. In roughly 3 seconds, while turning right, I had no visibility and ice develop on the inside of the window. I noticed two headlights that were in front of me that told me that I was partially in another lane. I had to drop my window down and drive with my head out of the window in 10 degree weather to make it home fine taking only back roads. Hit onstar to see if they see anything or can think of what happened. They were nice but had no data on my car nor any advice.
Took it to the dealership the next day. With all the sensors in cars, you would think that they would be able to determine if the actuator is not working anymore or if it is not operating correctly. Especially if the component of a car might cause an injury or death if it stops working.
Thanks Chevy for making a vehicle that has issues after issues and resells worse than the model before it.
The only way to get it to work is to change the temperature dial on & off. The is a knocking sound and then it will kick on. Of course you don't notice it during the summer! It has been a problem since I bought my car.

What a piece of crap ! The car is 5 years old ! First the constant clicking from the heater "door" being stuck, now it will not function at all! I have no idea how much it costs to repair. This is Michigan. Not a place you want to have a broken heater. This morning I drove my husband to work with a fogged windshield. I'm so sick of this vehicle I could cry. POS
