I began having issues with the AC in July of 2017. Then in August of 2017, my car overheated. I had the thermostat replaced. After that, it would blow out cold air, overheated again. Replaced thermostat a second time, heat seemed fine. A week or so after driving, once again, no heat, it would give heat when driving, but once stopped, it would put out cold air and then when doing this, it would overheat. I have replaced the water pump, heater hose assembly unit, heater housing, hoses that had small leaks in them and I have replaced the lovely thermostat for the fourth time last month. In January of 2018, when we were having sub zero temps here in NY, my car refused to give any heat what so ever. And yet, the damn thing would overheat during this time. Even now, after the 4th thermostat replacement, I still get minimal heat at best and today while I was in a drive thru waiting, it was blowing out cold air and wanting to overheat. This is getting to be ridiculous to have heating issues on a car that I maintain and never had a problem until July of last year. I do not have the money to take it in to have it looked at by a garage. I have had relatives that are mechanics fix what has been fixed on it. It shouldn't matter how many miles are on your car as long as you are taking well care of it and not neglecting things. I have had people say it's the head gasket, but, there are no indications that it that. I have had my car almost 5 years, it was 4 yrs old when I bought it, one person owned it before I bought it. I have even led other people to buying a chevy equinox because I liked mine and I have said that whenever I do buy another one, I would more than likely get another equinox. I have never had any problems until this heating problem. I do not see any visible leakage from anywhere. I would see the coolant on the snow when parked. I am getting air from somewhere, and have replaced some coolant, but not much. It would be nice if Chevy would admit these issues and offer to pay for some of the cost. Not everyone has money to pay out for repairs or to buy a new vehicle. If I was able to get a new car, I would've ditched this months ago instead of paying to fix things. I need to replace a wheel bearing on it, but until I get this heating issue resolved, I can't get that done yet.
