Over the entire life of this vehicle numerous issues with the ABS/Stabilitrak system resulting in handling issues and expensive repairs. The problem starts with handling issues while braking or driving in slippery conditions and eventually results in dash warning messages.
The brake system locks and overheat. Even when new parts are put on.after 10 min of driving old problems due exist. From brake caliper to brake line to brake booster changed
At 64,000 miles the master cylinder starting leaking into the brake booster. This is a $900 repair being passed onto the consumer and is not "normal wear and tear" there are hundreds of online complaints about the 2008 Chevy Equinox doing this at around 65,000 miles. There should be a recall
The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds and then depressing the brakes, the pedal would go travel to the floorboard abnormally and without warning. In order to stop the vehicle the contact would have to apply the emergency brake. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and after test driving the vehicle they were unable to find any failures. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was unknown. The current mileage was approximately 34,214. The VIN was unavailable.

ABS brake sensors on both the left and right front tires failed causing the vehicle braking system to vibrate and make stopping difficult. Advised by dealer that both sensors had to be replaced. Extreme safety hazard if having to stop at high speeds.
