There is a strong odor of gasoline coming from the right rear of the car. Looked up problem turns out there is a recall, but I wasn't told by General Motors that they won't fix mine because codfish the plant it built in. This makes no sense to me as I'm having the same problem. Please help.

I noticed a strong smell of fuel coming from my vehicle, I took it to a mechanic who diagnosed it as a problem with my fuel pump. I looked online because I had heard of a recall associated with cars catching on fire due to a fuel pump defect and I believe my vehicle is affected by this same defect. I'm in urgent need of this being repaired but I'm being told that the problem with the fuel pump will not be covered given the recall is regional to specific states. I am disputing this as I don't understand why my vehicle can't be covered if it is experiencing the same defect that was identified in those states.

I have owned this vehicle since 2009 and have had multiple issues, recurring frequently. The 2 main concerns are stuck key in ignition and stabilitrack and electrical malfunctions. There is a definite issue with the ignition in these vehicles, not only does my key get stuck, it has also been knocked out when hitting a bump. I own a cobalt too that has been recalled and my Equinox has the same issues with ignition this is dangerous and frustrating!! in addition, my stabilitrack has been serviced twice since I have owned. The electrical system goes crazy and lights up with airbag service, stabilitrack service and ABS brake warnings. I just spent 600 on brakes and rotors and it still lights up. The car has been checked and none of these warnings are accurate. These lights come on and off randomly and have for years. The fuel gauge will rotate backwards. The oil indicator that tracks oil life resets itself at random. I am angry! these issues need addressed. Are we not taken seriously because no one died" there are multiple complaints of the same nature as mine and yet no recall" sad that action is taken only after someone is killed! GM needs to do right by people who spend their hard earned money to purchase these vehicles. I have always been pro Chevy but not anymore. Their customer service and quality sucks.

About 2 weeks ago I started smelling gas around and in my vehicle. After researching the data base I see that is not uncommon and I am very concerned as to why this is not being recalled. How many complaints need to be made" are they waiting for someone to be injured because their vehicle caught on fire due to this" this is a safety issue for sure. I did take my vehicle to the dealership and it is the fuel pump. Unfortunately I do not live in the states that the recall was issued for. I have had several issues with this vehicle and every one of them is a known common issue and none have been sent for recall. This is going to cost me more than I can afford to get it fixed. This should be a recall in all states not just a few!

The gas tank/fuel pump began emitting a fuel odor in the summer of 2011. I thought that it was from recently filling the tank. It was a hot Texas summer when this began to happen. The smell would come and go without reason. It did happen more often in the summer. This past winter, when having routine oil change and inspection, it was found that the fuel pump had a crack in it and that is where the gas odor was originating. It was under recall, but Chevrolet keeps saying that our VIN number had not come up. The mechanic replaced the fuel pump at nearly $900. Chevrolet keeps denying our claim. It appears that it has denied many, many claims. We have received the original recall letter but they have not recalled my specific vehicle. I would think that something that they were aware of as far back as 2010 should be replaced and reimbursed within less than 6 months after you personally have it repaired.

About a month ago we started smelling gas both inside and outside the vehicle. After a few weeks the vehicle was starting to have trouble starting where it would sound like the car was "flooded" and wouldn't turn over right away. I took the vehicle to the Chevrolet dealership today and they diagnosed the problem as a cracked fuel module system that was leaking fuel. I have read thousands upon thousands of complaints regarding this part on this particular Equinox and there is even a recall on the part but in only 4 states which isn't fair to rest of the owners that are suffering the same problem.

This in regards to GM recall 12190. GM sent me a notice that a crack fuel pump module was possible for my car. I had that problem a year earlier than the notice and paid a GM dealer almost $1000 to repair. In the recall notice sent by GM, they said that they would notify me when parts became available for my car. It has been almost 8 months since that notice, and I have not been notify, calls to GM customer service have advise me that they do know when the parts will be available, nor are they concerned or obligated to make the part(s) available, this this complaint.

The fuel pump module was leaking fuel, as discovered by my mechanic. The pump had to be changed at great expense. Why has this problem not been addressed across the board for Equinox, instead of selective state registered as mentioned in the GM recall ? I could have had a potential fire had I not detected fuel fumes when I did. Thank you,

I noticed a gas smell when I got out of my car and when it is parked in my driveway. I took it to the dealership where I bought the car and they looked at it for me. They told me the gas tank was leaking a little bit from the top of the tank. I then did some research and found out that there is a recall on the fuel pump for the same reason. I live in Kentucky and the recall is in the western states. Why is it only in those states it is a defect in the part itself and I feel as if it should be replaced just the same as the others. Also I am having a problem with the stabilitrack in my vehicle. A warning will appear on the dash that states service stabilitrack, stabilitrack off, and then it will state engine power reduced and the engine will reduce power. I have seen a lot of complaints online about that as well.

I began smelling fumes coming from the rear of the vehicle. It go so bad, I had to stop parking my car in my garage. I took the vehicle to the local Chevy dealer, dale earnhardt Chevrolet on Tennessee street in tallahassee, Florida, and they confirmed that the fuel pump was on the recall. However, I was told that the 2007 Chevy Equinox is listed under phase 2 of the recall and they are only dealing with the phase 1 vehicles. In addition, GM has not come up with the new fuel pumps to replace the bad ones. Thus, if I want it fixed, I would have to go to the Napa store and purchase a fuel pump (I believe this would be a non-GM part) and then have then install it at a cost of over $1,100 to me. I then contacted the home office for GM and the "district specialist", rod, told me that the engineers have determined that despite the nationwide recall, that the fuel pump will not be repaired or replaced. I advise him of all the on line documentation regarding the recall and he told me they don't read those or acknowledge those so I am out of luck. I asked for the phone number to the home office and he said no one knows it and that I could just contact them via their P.O. Box.

After smelling a very strong odor of gas for about a month, it became so strong that I took the car into the dealer. The service mgr. Informed me there was a problem with the fuel pump and that it would require dropping the gas tank to correct the problem. Since there was a strong chance of fire, I decided to have the work done. It was extremely expensive, $1200, which I had to borrow in order to afford this repair. The service mgr. Even showed me the cracked piece of plastic from inside the fuel pump. Upon returning home that evening, I was surprised to see a news story on tv about a recall made by Chevrolet for the very problem I had just had. And then the unbelievable news that they would recall only certain "warm weather" states. I live in Virginia, which was not included, but it gets hot here too. I am appalled that the recall wasn't sent to every owner that might be affected by this obvious defect. And after reading many forums on the internet, I realize the problem is widespread, not just the few "warm weather" states. I have been a fan of Chevrolet for many years, but my faith in their company has been shattered. I have repeatedly called their customer service phone line and was given an incident number to reflect that I had contacted them. I even went to my dealer and since they had not received anything other than a memo, there was nothing they could do. Now it is April and still no sign of ever being contacted by Chevrolet about this recall. I really need that money back and am very angry with the whole situation!!!!!
