CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2006 Equinox is plagued by a heating problem, as in the heater only blows cold air.
The reported cause of this problem is a small door, known as the air temperature blend door, which allows air to flow past the heater core. This door has a plastic connecting shaft to an electric motor and the shaft is prone to breaking after a few years. The problem has a typical repair cost of over $800.
The 2006 Equinox also has a number of reported problems ranging from the key getting stuck in the ignition, to failing speed sensors, and trouble starting the engine. All in all, this car sounds like one worth avoiding.
I have had more than my fair share of issues with this vehicle, but not being able to let the window down nor up in this Georgia Heat working at a facility that I need to be able to put my drivers side window down to show my badge is becoming quite a chore. This is a final straw for me in the long list. The quote to repair this is $500+
Two out of four windows work on my car. They work when they want to work. 85% of the time the driver's window and the back passenger side window does not work, 10% of the time it will go down but it will not go back up and 5% of the time it will work perfectly.. Every now and then, that 5%, the window will skip as it's trying to come back up. My car seems to want to work when it wants to..
Sometimes, with increasing frequency, the driver window won't go down and even more recently and annoying is the fact that sometimes it won't go up...imagine that during a rain let alone going through any number of types of drive through services. We have found if you open and shut the door while holding the button down, it usually works the way you want it to go---for now.

I have automatic locks and when you shut your engine off, the radio continues play until you open the door, however, when I open the Driver's door the radio continues to be play and it should not.
I'm unable to lock my driver's door with my remote (I have to do it manually) - the other 3 doors open with the remote, but not the driver's door.
My driver's side window no longer goes down, not sure if it's the window motor or something that is hindering my radio going off when I open the door or if it's affecting my doors opening automatically with the remote.
