CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2006 Equinox is plagued by a heating problem, as in the heater only blows cold air.
The reported cause of this problem is a small door, known as the air temperature blend door, which allows air to flow past the heater core. This door has a plastic connecting shaft to an electric motor and the shaft is prone to breaking after a few years. The problem has a typical repair cost of over $800.
The 2006 Equinox also has a number of reported problems ranging from the key getting stuck in the ignition, to failing speed sensors, and trouble starting the engine. All in all, this car sounds like one worth avoiding.

Guess who. Here we are with my 2006 Equinox with 35000 mile on it. I'm driving along in my truck, the first shift comes about 15-20 mph, but the second shift that's suppose to happen around 35-40 mph, well never happened. So I took my truck to the garage for some kind of estimated repair. When they put my truck on the computer to get a reading, the computer kicked out about 51 different codes. No one really knows what the problem is, but they did find a few other problems. The shifting problem was the original problem that was followed by the other two problems (rear wheel bearings and carrier bearing). I guess I answered my own question, I am driving a red LEMON.
