CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2006 Equinox is plagued by a heating problem, as in the heater only blows cold air.

The reported cause of this problem is a small door, known as the air temperature blend door, which allows air to flow past the heater core. This door has a plastic connecting shaft to an electric motor and the shaft is prone to breaking after a few years. The problem has a typical repair cost of over $800.

The 2006 Equinox also has a number of reported problems ranging from the key getting stuck in the ignition, to failing speed sensors, and trouble starting the engine. All in all, this car sounds like one worth avoiding.

Own a 1998 chevy s-10 and the only thing replaced has been the radiator and alternator. Compared to this costly nightmare. On top of the computer and speed sensors failing, the 2006 Equinox has replaced radiator, speed sensors x2,battery x2,rear windshield assembly x2 and is broke again. Radiator fan assembly, cigarete lighter fuses x2,ignition key assembly. This will be the last chevy I ever purchase.

Equinox LX V6

The computer was telling the engine to shut off, but not telling the technicians that anything was wrong. At one point during a trip of approximately 250 miles the car stopped close to 30 times. At this point the dealership was willing to admit that there was a problem and replaced the computer.

GM should take better care of it's customers. No wonder the Jap cars are outselling American autos. GM should quit selling junk.
