CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2006 Equinox is plagued by a heating problem, as in the heater only blows cold air.
The reported cause of this problem is a small door, known as the air temperature blend door, which allows air to flow past the heater core. This door has a plastic connecting shaft to an electric motor and the shaft is prone to breaking after a few years. The problem has a typical repair cost of over $800.
The 2006 Equinox also has a number of reported problems ranging from the key getting stuck in the ignition, to failing speed sensors, and trouble starting the engine. All in all, this car sounds like one worth avoiding.
My drivers seat already has several cracks in it, both on the bottom seat part and the side facing the door. Also the main seam on the back has totally pulled apart near the headrest. This should not happen on a vehicle with this little miles.
It has happened to me twice, one with the bottom part and once with the back part. and after the second time, the GM did not streach a seat correctly and they asked me to wait 2 weeks which I did and when I returned after 2 weeks, they ordered a new part but never installed I left a car for a whole day and they called me back saying that I have to wait for the decision of the general manager ( 1.5 months to wait for the manager to see my car _- I am still complaining , one of the seat looks like is teared after 1 month from the installation of the new one. At one point a manager told me that GM knows about the leather problems
