This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
I bought this car used in 2026 I have not had it a year yet and after the first month it has been in for repairs, the wheels sounds like they are coming off at times, it sounds like something is dragging underneath, brakes scrubs even with my placing new one on, sometime it feel like transmission is going out, it pulls hard at time. Even tho this car is old can I still take it in for recall problems. I was not told about any recalls when I bought this car, I paid $3500 and I feel I have almost paid this much in repairs, all of this happens when car is in motion. On highway, streets and it pops sometime when making turns
As soon as the speed reaches 65, the wheels shake, I had tires replaced, new drive belt replaced and it did not fix the problem. As I read some of the problem the 2005 Equinox were having it is the same thing.
I have went through 3 wheel bearings, 2 carrier bearings which took 3 weeks to get from dealer so car was laid up., 2 stabilizer bars, all wiring was corroded and had to be replaced, battery goes dead if door is open for 15 minutes. Sun roof has rattled from day one. Paint is chipping off lift gate and inside back door from day one. Warranty would not cover. My 2005 Equinox is a big piece of junk!!!
2005 Chevrolet Equinox, mileage 68,800. "growling" heard coming from the rear end of the vehicle. Diagnosed by repair shop as rear hub bearings going bad and they needed to be replaced before total failure which could have caused seizing or lose of wheels. No recall has apparently been issued and it isn't a "known" problem but local dealership said that they had 16 replacements in stock.
