DON"T BUY THIS VEHICLE!!!! IT'S a piece of JUNK!!!! We bought this vehicle used from a dealership. It only had one original owner. We did the car fax ect...thinking we were upgrading to a nice car.The car only had 48,000miles.That was less than two years ago,and we have had nothing but problems ever since!! Power window wire broken, wheel bearing needed replaced, and now BLOWN HEAD GASKETS AND CRACKED HEADS at 76,000 miles!!!You work hard for your money and you think you can buy a car that will last you for years, and then this! I hate this CAR!! But, I'm stuck with it.GM should stand by their products and fix these problems. To bad, I didn't come across this website sooner.I never would of bought this vehicle!

We're not even done paying for this vehicle and we have so many issues with it. The car began to overheat and we notice the antifreeze needed to be replaced every other day, which of course lets us know there is a problem. I go online and find so many complaint and issues with the same vehicle... Shouldn't there have been a recall w/this automobile if there are so many complaints about it!!! Now we have blown gaskets and we might have to replace the engine, this is going to cost about $2000. This sucks! The maker of this vehicle should be responsible for the costs of repair to my car as they didn't obviously make a well worth driving automobile.

We bought this car used from Neemer Auto in Bennington. Not one word was mentioned by the salesman about the problems that exist with the head gasket in this year and model. After the problem and i got an estimate, i checked the internet and without even trying hard i found several of this exact year with the same problem! I called G.M. after i was told basically to go screw myself by Neemer, G.M. told me there was nothing they could do since basically i had it diagnosed at a Midas shop. I told G.M. fine i will have the car towed to neemer so they can confirm the problem but that i wanted G.M. to pay for it. I was told that i would have to pay for it. So i have a car that is basically useless that i am paying 200.00 a month for.If any one else has this problem let me know i will find a lawyer. We as a public helped bail out G.M. we deserve better then this.someone will pay for this repair be it G.M. or Neemer.

I bought this vehicle brand new and did all of the prescribed maintenance on it, yet still @ 63,000 miles I ended up with a blown head gasket and are in need of a new engine at the cost to me of $3800.00 !!

When I contacted Chevrolet Customer Service the were very rude and were unwilling to help me out financially with this known lemon that they sold me.

After two long weeks they came back with an offer of a $1500.00 loyalty certificate to be used towards the purchase of another new GM product.

To say the least, I think that I will be purchasing my first import in the very near future!!

It was my first brand new car. I have drove many hoopie mobile in my life time you know those cars the one you taped here and there had rust everywhere they were not the best looking cars but they did get you where you needed to go. Well you can imagine my excitement getting my first brand new car. It drove great I got mt oil changed every 3000 miles then this year of course it is paid off it started overheating during the end of the summer , I replace the thermostat put coolant in it and didn't have any problem. I thought everything was fine. Then it happened it started overheating on the way to work of course on the coldest day of the year . Now stranded I take it to my mechanic and he gives me the bad news. I BLEW THE HEAD GASKET!!! What are you sure he told me he has done many of these car same problem. How can a car with 60,000 miles blow a head gasket. I have drove those hoopie mobiles into the ground hell I have a 1973 vw van in my garage that has 200,000 miles on the same engine never had that kind of problem!!! Why am I writing this because we bailed that car company from bankruptcy . And they want me to buy their cars!

April 27th, 2010 (mileage 80,067 K) took equinox in for regular oil change & was told scheduled maintenance called for a full radiator flushing, change of coolant etc etc. I had the service done.

May 23rd, 2010 (mileage 81,180 K) driving home from dinner noticed temp gauge rising quickly and pulled off road as soon as it was safe. Had BCAA tow car to dealership. Next day service technician said the head gaskets had blown & the estimated repair cost was $2,300 (Can). I queried the connection between the service work a month earlier I was advised (of course) there was no connection, it was like sh** happens. Technician said I was almost 2000 K over the 80,000 K warranty but he would try to see if Chevrolet would honour the warranty. I was subsequently advised Chevrolet would have nothing to do with this issue and my warrant had expired, it was! just that simple. Told the Technician to hold off on any repairs, I needed at least 1 other quote - not happy about this. Called the local GM dealership & got a quote of approx $1,800 & then to a very respected local mechanic who quoted $1,500.

#1 - I'm really choked about this as I've been extremely happy with the vehicle & can't help but think this issue is connected to the flush etc; #2 - 2 days before this issue I was in the dealership & paid off my GMAC loan; #3 - the day before this happened I was back at the dealership looking at 2010 Equinox's; #4 - If they had even offered to honour 25 - 40% of the warranty I would still be a very happy Chev/GM customer based on their very goodwill - NOT!.

After my Monte Carlo, Nova, Sunfire & Equinox the Ford Escape is looking like the next vehicle for my wife & I.

Thanks for reading my w(h)ine - Jeff

Boardwalk Chevy in Redwood City is saying I have blown head gaskets and leaks, water pump is out, among other things. They say total engine replacement is the only fix, at $5,000. Oh, and by the way, they will not cover this under their 100,000 warranty. There are so many complaints on the internet about this, I am surprised this has not become a class action suit yet. National Transportation Agency has to be aware of this.

Bought this car 1 week ago,,,,, started running rough. Had it in park and white smoke filled the parking lot. Took it back to dealer they said it will take 2 weeks to fix.. they called today and said they had to do a compression test on the heads... yep both heads where cracked, awesome so the two new heads and the gasket cost the dealership a fortune... HAHAHAHAHA..Because it was under there used car 30 day 3000 mile warranty.. so they couldn't put it on my extended warranty... finally some pay back......O well made first payment and I have only drove the car 3 days.. At this rate I will make the second payment without driving it for a fourth day...

Of course, my car was held "hostage" over a holiday weekend. While the dealership was accommodating, it was still an inconvenience. To have already REDESIGNED the gaskets, I'd think the problem must be fairly prevalent. Have your Equinox checked for this problem (mine was leaking coolant) before your warranty expires!
