Here's the issue I ran into while I had to have a reliable SUV. I'm driving 500+ miles per week for work and I go to run an errand in my SUV. It has been paid off so it wasn't under warranty - even the extended warranty when this pathetic excuse for installation was discovered.
I get in to start my SUV and it just goes "CLICK". So my dad working in electrical systems helps me out. We waste THREE HOURS trying to find the problem using the manual and online videos only to confirm that the wiring in the whole SUV was not wired at the factory in the way it shows in the manual at all! We didn't get good readings at all and finally found a burned out fuse. After replacing the fuse my Equinox started up but I'm not paying over $3,000 for a new wiring harness and to have it installed because some IDIOT IN CANADA CAN'T READ AN ELECTRICAL DIAGRAM! Yeah, I also found out it was made in CANADA and MEXICO and NOT IN THE USA.
As a result of this expensive PITA that should have NEVER HAPPENED I've wasted over $1,500+ just dealing with this mess. $745.22 just for a ghetto rigged "fix" from one auto shop. They recommended we buy a whole new electrical setup/harness but it would cost a pretty penny to have someone else install it. Why waste that much on something that was supposed to be made CORRECTLY ON THE ASSEMBLY LINE? The rest of it was just cleaning and tracing the wiring to see if we could fix it, more repairs for electrical inside of the SUV. Yeah it can't happen because I have no space to work on this nightmare nor do I have the time. The hatred I have against pseudo US automakers has put me off of US brands altogether and I'm looking for a foreign small SUV to replace it.
Now when I have trouble starting this POS I just punch the fuse box a few times and it starts. I HATE CHEVY! Never buy a Chevrolet kids - not even once.
