Purchased our Equinox in 2005 the problem is the abs light is on. We had it in the garage they replaced the hub then it happened again, so they put a hub again on it. My husband took the front drive side wheel off and the wiring harness clip won't stay on the wheel. He cleaned it up works for awhile. Chevy should recall the equinox for bad abs system, also we complained and video taped the key falling out the ignition with the car running chevy recalled it for that. We wish more people would complain if they have this problem with the abs brake system. We love our equinox so please fix the problem.

I too am affected by the known wiring harness problem for the Equinox. A wire connected to the ABS wheel speed sensor is located too close to the frame and eventually the outside of the wire chafes off and the wheel speed sensor reports inaccurate information. This causes the computer to think you are slipping and activate the ABS (even while the brake pedal is not being pressed at all!). After 2 or 3 false activations the computer disables the ABS which automatically disables the Traction Control and Stabilitrak (and cruise control).

I have asked the dealer numerous times where the wiring harness is located and no one can provide that information. There is a TSB issued for this problem, but it never reached a recall level. The recommended fix is to add protective coatings to the affected wire(s) which will immediately remedy the situation. The problem is these wires are not easy to locate and the information is not available anywhere to aid in locating the problem.

Have spent $900 dollars putting trying to fix the problem and it is still doing it. My local guy says to take it to a dealer and see if they can find the problem, we will see.
