Our 2017 Chevrolet Cruze was just in for the 35,000 mile maintenance and 4 new tires last month. Then again a few weeks ago for an oil change and tire rotation. Since we purchased it we've always dealt with Ferman Chevrolet and all of our inspections have been excellent. Put of no where, with no signs or warning, our clutch went completely to the floor in the middle of shifting on the road. Luckily a police office stopped to help us push it to the side. We had it towed and were told it couldn't possibly be the clutch given the mileage and the fact that we're experienced stick drivers. I've never had a clutch go bad prior to 120,000 miles. Sure enough the clutch burned out completely and we were quoted $2,100-2,300 for the repair. Several employees couldn't believe it, including someone from the parts department. It's a wear and tear part so no warranty covers it. We filed a complaint with Chevrolet after researching and seeing others with low mileage clutch failure in the 2nd gen. Cruze as well. As others have said, this must be a defective part. After a few days of waiting for a response and feeling hopeful that our excellent maintenance history and perfect inspections would be proof enough, Chevy senior advisor Christy insisted there's no way of telling if the part was defective and as it is a wear and tear part we are responsible to pay even though this was a completely sudden failure.
