The problem initially started in cold/snowy weather (live in Michigan) with right-side detection light staying on, even when car was turned off. Eventually, the light turned off, however, the dash warning showed/s up every time the car is started. Took car to GM dealership - they quoted $800 to fix the right side detection sensor. At the same time, a ground short developed somewhere which caused the dash infotainment screen to go blank - meaning: I had no idea if the heat/AC was on, no radio, no clock, no outside temp, no nothing.
The dealership said the short was "at the end of the line" (whatever that meant) and the problem would correct itself if the side-sensor was replaced. I did not have the (expensive/elective) repair done. After three months of driving with no screen, I referred to the auto manual and replaced the infotainment fuse - costing 75 CENTS. Suddenly, I had a screen again!
Now, a little over a year later (in cold, slushy snow and at 60,000 miles), the electrical system seems to be going haywire: while driving, the entire dash will go blank, the blower fan will stop, and the car goes "quiet" (yet still running/driving) for approximately 3-5 seconds, then suddenly the dash turns back on with multiple warning icons lit up in rotation. The infotainment center does not work at all and now blows fuses upon installation.
I mistakenly bought a 2013 Chevy Cruze which was a LEMON - major issues with a horrible chemical smell when the heat was on (so bad that it clouded my windshield and I had to wash it often, as well as drive in the winter with the window cracked open), among many other problems. The dealership worked with me to get the 2015 Cruze as a replacement. Not sure it was a good decision. Not a fan. At. All.
