On both headlights the orange light has a lens cover over the orange light bulb. The lens cover on both has just fallen off and rolls around inside the sealed head light assembly. Dealership failed the state inspection because of this and offered to replace the headlamps for $800.00 plus. I decided to replace them my self with materials costing anywhere from $250.00 to $450.00.
After Deery Brothers in Altoona Iowa fixed my front bumper, both turn signals covers fell off. They refused to fix it. They said it was a GM problem defect. I called GM they refused to fix it or offer any help. I have had it with Chevy. There are other 2014 Chevys that have had this problem. They do not stand behind their cars anymore.
It makes me mad that the car is still within the mileage warranty but 153 days out of the 3 year warranty so I have to pay to replace the headlamp assembly. I have seen many other people complain of the same problem. It appears to be a design flaw so why am I liable? Dealer wants $301 to replace the headlamp but was willing to discount it to $135. Even so, why should I pay anything?
I feel as if this is factory negligence and should be covered and replaced at no charge to me because I have seen several complaints of this happening to several people.
GM should repair and replace at no cost to the owners of Chevy Cruze. In my case 2014 model year. The manufacturer of the head light assembly is designed so that you can not repair the "lens cover" this is the cover on the turn signal light. In my case it came off. I have since noticed another Chevy Cruze with a similar problem.
I paid out of pocket $337 for a replacement head light assembly. The local Chevy Dealer said they are aware of this problem.
My question is why would you put a "lens cover", on a turn signal light, and have the whole head light assembly enclosed with no way of repairing? Is this a money maker?
