This is a known manufacturer defect where the plastic male piece breaks at the hose connection, creating a coolant leak issue and a piece of plastic trapped in the cooling system. The plastic piece will lodge at the thermostat or in the radiator creating an overheat problem. The only fix is to replace the entire plastic housing at nearly $400. GM does not acknowledge this manufacturer defect and the defect is not covered under warranty. The Chevy dealer service writer shared this happens on many Chevy Cruze vehicles.
