- Summary
- This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that have a rattle or knock noise from the engine transmission area when starting the vehicle. Technician will need to verify that noise is not engine related by following "Engine Noise on Start-up, but only lasting a few seconds" diagnostic in Service Information. Technician should be advised that Engineering has identified that the starter motor is rotating the crankshaft at a speed that excites the dual mass flywheel springs and is the root cause of the noise.
