CarComplaints.com Notes: In many ways, the 2012 Cruze continues the legacy of its predecessor. It's a legacy of sluggish transmissions and coolant leaks, but it's still a legacy.

To be fair, the number of complaints about the cooling system are way down versus the 2011 model which led to a class-action lawsuit.

On the flip-side, there's more concerns about brake problems.

However, there were far more Cruze vehicles sold for the 2012 model year so we'll give it our "Beware of this Clunker" badge rather than the "Avoid Like the Plague."

Cruze 2LT 1.4L W/Turbo

I regularly look around under the hood, and found a leak from the transmission cooling lines. I called the dealership to ask if replacing them is covered under the powertrain warranty and they told me I had to bring it in before they would say. They were happy to charge me $55 to inform me that no, transmission lines are not covered. They also wanted about $150 more to do the repair than a non-dealership shop down the road. I'm left wondering if I'd have been better off not regularly inspecting my vehicle... and waiting until the transmission failed due to lack of cooling, because then that would be a powertrain part failing.

we now have an on going case with GM regarding this problem, they dont want to cover the repair under the power train warrenty when clearly with out this the power train would not work, it is a fire hazzard and if the repair goes unfixed it will catch fire and then they said it would be covered. I mean really they would take the chance of us drive down the interstate and catching fire before they will consider fixing the problem first. After explaining to them about this issue they are now talking to the dealership about getting it fixed at no cost, I will be letting everyone know how well GM handles this issue, I am a retired GM employee and a loyal GM customer, Lets hope they do the right thing here.

Update from Dec 14, 2015: Great news after much talking with GM and the dealership they have decided to cover the problem and we get to keep the loner car till they are finished thank you!

Update from Jan 6, 2016: Got the car home and for weeks still smelled burning oil or something, took it back and there is still a leak in the transmission, they can't find it, will up date when I know more. They had it five days last time
