2012 Chevrolet Cruze
This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Chevrolet dealer.
CarComplaints.com Notes: In many ways, the 2012 Cruze continues the legacy of its predecessor. It's a legacy of sluggish transmissions and coolant leaks, but it's still a legacy.
To be fair, the number of complaints about the cooling system are way down versus the 2011 model which led to a class-action lawsuit.
On the flip-side, there's more concerns about brake problems.
However, there were far more Cruze vehicles sold for the 2012 model year so we'll give it our "Beware of this Clunker" badge rather than the "Avoid Like the Plague."

I am more than pissed, to put it mildly. I purchased this car and own it outright at this point. I purchased it thinking I would hold onto this car for quite some time as I do less than 7500 per year. I take good care of my car, doing regular maintenance, fluid changes, tire rotations, etc. Took a short ride yesterday, approximately 5 miles, 2 miles of highway driving, no problems. Got off the highway to a residential neighborhood, turned a corner, put foot on the accelerator, and nothing. Car would not move. I was like...this is weird. Put car into manual mode, car was skipping 2nd and 3 gear, rpms racing, and jerked into 4th and suddenly 5th gear. Another 50 feet later, the same thing.
Pulled over. Turned car off, thinking perhaps something with the computer. Let me just add that not one idiot light displayed on the dash.
Restarted the car, same thing. Limped to mechanic, they changed the tranny fluid again, took the car for a ride, and same result.
End result need a new transmission. I could not be more disappointed to find out that so many other Cruz owners have experienced the same issue. How dare they manufacture such a poor product. Perhaps one of the issues why they are no longer manufacturing this vehicle, although it wouldn't surprise me if they are using this transmission in other products. How dare they. I will never purchase a GM product again, and was at one time a GM employee. Shame on you General Motors!!! Should have stayed with my Honda Civic!!!!!
