Challenge #1) purchased 2014 Stingray Corvette- Z 51 convertible on 1/21/14. On 3/20/14 heard a slight rattling sound- vibration coming from the front of the car. Thought a plastic bag was sucked into lower vent. Sound & vibration became more obvious & frequent over the last 3 days. It is loud enough to hear over the music in the car. The car is at the dealership right now, total of 2400 miles on the car. The mechanic drove with me to confirm problem. He told me that he has worked on 2 other Stingrays- Z 51's with similar issues. 1 was a belt problem the other one was a torque problem.
Challenge #2) rock hit windshield 2/20/14 - chipped the windshield. SafeLite was sent to repair the chip. That was not satisfactory. SafeLite sent technician to replace windshield. Took technician 3 hours to complete the job. Next day signal came across the dash :"Service Theft Alarm" and the lights were not working on the rear view mirror. SafeLite sent 2 of their 'highly skilled technicians' to troubleshoot- they added more problems to original. New signals were: "Top-not secure" and drivers window not functional. Dropped car off at dealership for 8 days to replace the support attached to mirror. SafeLite super glued the support system together- on a $82,000 car!!!!
2 days after car was released from dealership - rock hits windshield & chips new windshield. Is there something wrong with the angle of the windshield? Is there something wrong with the quality of the windshield? Has Chevrolet installed a less superior windshield to reduce costs? Could it be a combination of both the quality & angle of the windshield? I have owned 20 cars in my life - 13 previous cars were Corvettes. From what I recall- I have had to have 1 windshield replaced in all these years. I have debris hit my cars over the years- especially the windshield but, only 1 chipped windshield prior to this.
Please feel free to post if you are having issues with the windshield & the vibration under the hood.
