My Corvette c6 model has had a longterm issue with the left fuel pump, which I was not made aware of by the local dealership servicing my vehicle or the manufacturer, General Motors. I recently discovered the fuel pump issue, which results in a significant fuel leak thru the bottom left side of the vehicle. GM and the dealership failed to notify me of this issue even though they issued a Special Bulletin that addresses the fuel pump issue and which advises dealerships to repair the vehicle at no cost to the owner - me. I have complained to General Motors and I'm currently awaiting their response to my complaint and request for assistance with the repairs. As of 9:00 am Pacific Time, December 9, 2024, I've received no response from GM. My concern and reason for this report is GM's failure and the dealership's failure to notify me, and failure to issue a recall for this significant and dangerous problem with my vehicle.
Strong fuel fumes filling the car and garage on [XXX] after driving {just in and out of the garage), even stronger in trunk, its a convertible. Internet search showed either faulty gas cap, I replaced it hoping that would fix it, or broken plastic elbow on top of fuel pump on drivers side gas tank. Web sites also noted GM covered this safety recall and fix for 10 years. Well, they didn't tell people not to buy this car with a serious defect that could burn down their garage and home! I bought it used with 9200 miles last Feb for almost 52K and clean carfax. I took it to my local Chevrolet dealer, Durant in Granbury, TX 1/22/2023, they called back saying the recall only lasted 10 years and they won't cover any of the $3,600+ repair cost. Can you help? The car has yet to be inspected by a dealer. However, there is a strong odor of fuel, in the garage by the driver side of the vehicle. This has occurred on multiple occasions even when tank not at full capacity. Upon investigation, it appears as if it is similar to a reported problem with the fuel pump from multiple Corvette owners with similar make and model. Significant concern of potential fires and/or explosion around small children in the household.

The Primary tank module flange fuel and vapor leak. Yes, it's available for inspection upon request. It's sitting at Auto Nation Chevrolet 3215 South Auto Way Gilbert since November 28, 2022. They said they're waiting for the cross over fuel line part # 10337583. Fuel leaks where the fuel pump goes into the left gas tank and can cause an explosion. Also, I had extreme fuel vapors in my garage that could have caused my house to catch fire too. No warning lamps. I filed a case with GM #9-933208951. Based on my research its recall #15682. When I phone GM they tell me my case has been transferred to another department. The latest is James at 1 866 790 5600 ext 591-0336.
My car with only 17,000 is generating a very strong gas smell, which completely fills my garage. I've read old notices that preferred to this problem and saw there was many reports in the past from your organization about this problem, that now have all been pulled. As any Corvette forms on line reflects, as it is a continuous problem. I now am keeping mine outside, because of the strong odor. There isn't a gas leak per a Chevrolet dealer and I can't afford the $1,000 in additional labor, their estimate to attempt to figure out. Please assist us (the thousands of other owners effecting 2007 -in 2013). Please help thank you very much on advance, [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
The vehicle fills my garage with strong gasoline vapors when enclosed. I have to leave it parked outside to clear the odor from my garage. There is a leak somewhere. I have been informed and subsequently read that it is a known problem by GM Chevrolet Corp. I cannot locate an issued recall for this widely known problem with C6 Corvettes
I have just recently purchased this 2013 Corvette grand sport. I'm come out into my garage this morning March 12th 2022 and there is a trail of fuel leaking from the rear driver's side of the car. Doing a quick online search I have found that this is a common problem on these cars. There is there is a plastic fitting on top of the fuel pump or the fuel tank itself is commonly known to develop a crack. This is an exceptionally dangerous situation as the fuel tank is very close to the hot exhaust when driving. Please advise as to any recourse I may have with GM or any Chevrolet dealership. This is a 2013 corvette with only 46000 miles.
Car has a constant smell of gasoline coming from it, appears to be leaking from the top of the fuel tank located on the drivers side of the vehicle, then it runs down and fills the fuel tank mounting bracket, could possibly leak onto exhaust pipe causing fire underneath the vehicle.
1. Strong fuel smell when the car is parked in garage. Believe it is coming from top of driver's side fuel tank. Vapor is so strong I'm afraid it will explode. Doesn't matter if tank is full or empty. 2. Seat belt air bag warning light is on in the driver's cluster unit. Car only has 35,000 miles. Don't think this is safe. Will need it checked out ASAP at dealer.
car only has 31,000 miles on it and it's leaking gas from the top of the gas tank. will need fuel pump replaced. not a safe thing to have cheap parks, spilling gas over the exhaust pipes. MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE TO ME! anti lock brake system is also giving issues for a couple years now, noted by previous owner. This car only has 31,000 miles!
Raw fuel smell especially after fill-up, strongest on left side near rear wheel area. Cannot park vehicle in garage. Strongest outside but slight odor inside also.
