Disconnected battery briefly to perform minor maintenance. After reconnecting battery, clock display was blank. In addition, the entire clock set-up menu was blank and non-functional to manual input.
An extensive internet search found this clock display going blank issue appears to be occurring on a huge universal scale to all similar model navigation units in both the USA and overseas. The trigger is whenever the battery is first disconnected during or after December, 2018.
I have no factual information on why this is occurring. However, I experienced a similar issue on an unrelated device last year. The partial failure was tracked down to being caused by a Satellite programing update that obsoleted older devices in the process by deleting support from the revised software.
