I was concerned about excessive valve train noise and after reading several corvette forum threads about improperly machined heads by GM's supplier linamar, and that numerous vehicles have had valves drop and ruin the engines, I took my car with 27000 miles on it to a corvette specialty shop to have my valve guide clearance tested. I had (2) intake valve guides outside of service specifications, (4) exhaust valve guides outside of service specifications, and a combination of (10) other intake and exhaust valve guides at or near the maximum outside of service specifications. The car is being repaired with proper re-machining of the heads to make the valve guides concentric, new intake and exhaust valve guides installed, as well as new seals, valves, springs, etc. 88% of the corvette forum members who have had their cylinder heads tested for excessive valve guide wear, were out of service specifications. Source: www.corvetteforum.com/forums/C6-Z06-discussion/3386141-the-out-of-spec-guide-wear-registry.html GM needs to issue a recall on this issue, there have been numerous engine failures as a result of a dropped valve into a cylinder which can cause accidents and fires. GM is very aware of this issue, but refuses to do anything about this huge safety risk to drivers, passengers, and nearby vehicles if the engine fails going down the road.

Corvette 2008 has approximately 15,000 miles. The ignition coil on cylinder 6 failed. After repairs and approximately 500 miles thereafter, ignition coil on cylinder 8 failed.

I was driving on the freeway at night on my way home around 11pm when my low beam lights went dark and would not turn back on.I've checked all the forums about this problem and it is happening a lot, but apparently GM wont include the 2008 vehicles even though ones like mine have the same equipment as earlier models with the same problems. A few days prior, my girlfriend was driving the car, and complained about the same problem, but I just thought it was because she didn't know how to operate the car. Once I get it fixed, how do I know the lights wont mysteriously go off again?! I'm very disappointed in all the electrical problems with this vehicle, and this is the last straw. (after only 38K miles the fuel tank gauge stopped working. At 60K miles the car was having issues with overheating because the fans wouldn't turn on. At 75K miles a clunking noise started coming from the differential. It's a stock car mind you. And now at 85K miles 2008, the headlights wont turn on. GM simply won't stand behind the car, and so I've been left to figure it out on my own. So much for buying my dream car. It seems more like a nightmare.)

I've had repeated failures that have required multiple repairs 1. engine knocking- repeated repairs, upper end replaced knocking and engine roughness still there 2. transmission- failure of clutch plates, replaced problem not resolved, transmission slipping is increasing 3. electrical system failure: The electrical system completely shuts down, nothing operates even the hazard warning lights- this has occurred a minimum of 8 times. Relays, switches wiring battery get extremely hot until battery bleeds down. High potential for electrical fires and car cessation of operations have left us in perilous conditions on multiple occasions.
