Consumer states there is a design flaw in the manual transmission, consumer is unable to shift from first to second gear, goes to fourth gear instead. Contacted dealer, who informed consumer that this was what it was supposed to do this as a fuel saver.
This vehicle has a lockout on the standard transmission that requires the driver to shift from 1st gear directly to 4th gear at intervals I have been unable to determine. A light comes on the dash telling the driver to shift from 1st to 4th and if it is not expected or noticed ( mostly when turning and your eyes are focused on the road) causes a significant reduction in speed. This has caused drivers behind me to stand on their brakes to keep from hitting my vehicle in the rear, and has resulted in several drivers becoming quite irate with me.
