While trying to start vehicle steering locked, making it difficult for consumer to start vehicle. Also, indicator light flashed. Dealer has been contacted ref. In EA02-031
Steering column locks up due to faulty steering wheel locking mechanism. Problem still exists after several attempts by the dealer to repair. Consumer now askeing that Chevrolet repurchase the vehicle. Ref. In EA02-031
The steering wheel column locked up, causing a collision which resulted in injury. The vehicle was repaired severaltimes for steering locking up prior to the collision. Also, dealer has replaced the ignition and the steering lock actuator. Manufacturer has been notified. Ref. In EA02-031
(1) intermittent passive keyless entry/alarm system malfunctions in "passive" mode: Doors lock and alarm sets in 5 seconds if key removed from ignition and doors still closed; if unlock button pressed and enter vehicle, doors lock and alarm sets. (2) fuel gauge inaccurate: When tank is completely full, intermittently reads 2/3 full after starting vehicle. After driving for 2 minutes or so, fuel gauge jumps to the full mark. (3) steering column locked while car in gear but not moving (after backing out of garage, while at dealer for other repairs). Ref. In EA02-031

I have heard from my corvete club about other Corvettes that have had this problem while driving!!! it has caused accidents, and I am worried about it recurring.
While driving out of a parking lot at a speed of 5-10 mph and trying to make a right turn, steering wheel locked up, and was unable to be turned. Vehicle was later towed to the dealer. Ref. In EA02-031
The steering column locked while I was driving this car through a parking lot (luckily). I was unable to steer altogether and simply had to leave the car where it was. The dealership I took it to in raleigh, nc (bobby murray), where the car currently is, had 3 other Corvettes with the same problem on that day. The service manager told me this dangerous problem had been occurring fairly often but Chevrolet had not recalled the cars. Do you have any suggestions? please help. Ref. In EA02-031
Steering column lock failed in "unlock" position...have talked with owners of similar veh. That have experienced fail in "lock" position while in motion!! ref. In EA02-031
Steering column locked up while going in reverse. Vehicle had to be put in park and the key had to be put in the ignition again. The second time it happened the vehicle locked up, it wouldn't come loose. Dealer has not seen vehicle. Ref. In EA02-031
Steering wheel locked up when in reverse gear, and the vehicle was rolling which could have caused an accident. 2. passenger's side seat belt will not retract in place properly or it will twist and jam the system, causing loss of protection.
