The contact stated that while an employee was driving approximately 30 MPH up to a red traffic light, the brake pedal failed to slow the vehicle while depressed. The driver used an excessive amount of strength to depress the brake pedal for the vehicle to come to a stop. The contact was unable to confirm any warning lights had been illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the vacuum pump had failed and needed to be replaced. The failure caused the engine to fail. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the parts for the engine being on backorder. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 69,000.
