I own a 2020 Chevy Colorado with 21k miles with 1 month of factory warranty left on it. I am experiencing harsh shifting from 1st to 2nd gear especially when the engine is cold. Also harsh downshift from 2nd to 1st gear when braking and coming to a stop. This happens no less than twice a day, EVERY day! There are times during the harsh shift that it feels like the vehicle is being rear ended. The harsh shift is getting noticeably worse, so I took it to a local Chevy Dealer. After four days of being without a vehicle, I received a call stating the harsh 1-2 shifting was verified but fell under GMs “within specs†and normal operation. So no repairs were done. I was told by the Chevy service department to warm up the truck first or put the truck into drive wait up to 30 seconds and let the torque converter fill with oil before driving. Seriously?? I did as they stated to no success.
I did ask about TSBs, torque converter issue or even transmission fluid change as older Colorado models have had similar shifting issues. Sad to say the Chevy dealership didn’t entertain my suggestions and continued to tell me what I’m experiencing is normal per GM.
Sorry everyone, but the harsh shifting is not normal. I hope more people speak up and complains so GM has to find a fix for this issue. I’m very close to selling my truck and buying a Ford.
Anyone have similar shifting issues that’s been corrected?
